Have you ever driven past a farm, pasture, or even someone’s front yard, and seen a skinny or injured horse? Sometimes we just shake our heads at the cruelty and unfairness of it all. “Such a shame”, we tell ourselves. “Someone should do something about that.”
If not YOU, then WHO?
Of course, you’d like to do something about it, but you aren’t sure what to do. You’re busy. The next person will handle it. The authorities will certainly help the poor animal. Besides, you say, “I wouldn’t know what to do”, “who do I call?”, “I’m just one person”, or “what can I do about it?”
You CAN do it!
The answer isn't complicated. There are agencies that handle these situations. Most sheriff’s departments have an agricultural department, or at least an Animal Control Officer. They investigate these cases and determine what action should be taken.
Also, private rescues can help get animals out of bad conditions. An internet search for a local Rescue will turn up numbers to call.
Your action can save an innocent animal from pain and suffering. One phone call might make all the difference in the world to an animal in need.
