Indy came to RVR in September 2024 after we stepped in to help care for him on his prior owner’s property for almost two weeks until we could move him. His prior owner had rescued Indy from a bad situation, but later decided to rehome him.

Based on his very thin condition and hooves that were cut too short and at the wrong angle by the prior farrier, we knew Indy needed a safe place to get back to health before finding his forever home. Based on his prior trauma and the fact that he was without equine companionship for quite a while, Indy took a while to open up to equine friends.

He is a gentle, shy senior who needs docile companionship in the pasture.  He has been ridden in the past, but with his age and body condition, we are looking for a pasture placement for him.

Sweet Indy’s personality will shine once he’s given time to become comfortable in new surroundings and this mellow fellow will make a future owner very happy. Indy takes a while to warm up to new friends, however he’s able to bond, as he has done with his current pasture pal, Ernie. Adoption preference will be made for a new owner who’s willing to give this bonded pair a home.
