Spike is the oldest and the alpha of a mini trio we took into the rescue. He’s approximately 18 years old and used to be a birthday party pony, so he’s been exposed to a lot of children, handling, and attention. With that, he’s friendly and gets along well with people and animals.  On the other hand, when he’s ready to decompress, Spike likes his space and doesn’t want to be bothered by a velcro-friend. He loves to be groomed and going on short walks.

In July 2018, Spike had an injury that was diagnosed as upper fixation of the patella, also known as locking stifle. The treatment options were euthanasia or surgery, and thankfully, surgery was performed. He now limps and x-ray showed mild degeneration of his right hind stifle that he has compensated for in his gait.

Spike arrived with body score of 2.0 that was being hidden underneath a heavy coat. He slowly gained back the weight he needed and he’s now awaiting his perfect forever home.
